Meaning of word jeans: 

  • "jeans" is short for blue jeans which are invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873.

Word denim come from:

  • The word jeans and denim come from two European ports that had been making similar fabrics since middle ages In Nimes, France, weavers had been trying to reproduce a cotton corduroy made famous in Genoa, Italy. They instead came up with their own sturdy fabric, called "serge de Nimes," later shortened to "denim." 

Blue color of jeans:


  • the blue color of jeans came from indigo plants

Rivets on the pockets:

  • Copper rivets on the pockets are not for style, they were originally designed to make seams of miners pants more durable.

Small pockets in jeans:

  • In 1800s, there were no wrist watch , cowboys used to wear their watches on chains and kept them in their waistcoats.
  • For comfort Levi's introduced small pocket where they could keep their watch safely.
